Alexey was born to a family of musicians in St. Petersburg in 1986. His father is a professional trumpeter and teacher Victor Nikiforov. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Music School in Kolpino District (class of Viktor Nikiforov) in 2001, and, from the Musical College N.A.Rimsky-Korsakov of Saint Petersburg (class of Yuri Sharapov) in 2005. In 2010, he graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory (class of teacher Boris Taburetkin). Currently he continues his post-graduate study.
Laureate of the international competitions:
1999 - the 1st Prize at the Open City Competition for Young Performers of St. Petersburg.
2006 - the 2nd Prize at the Yevgeny MravinskyInternational Youth Competition (St. Petersburg).
2008 - the 3rd Prize in the International Rimsky-Korsakov Woodwinds and Brass Competition (Saint-Petersburg).
2009 - the 3rd Prize at the Timofei Dokschitzer International Woodwinds and Brass Competition (Moscow).
Alexey is a soloist to the St.Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra since 2006.
