Born in 1947 in Leningrad. Andrey graduated from music school at the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory and then, from the Conservatory itself in 1973, where he was studying clarinet and saxophone, and pursued his post-graduate studies (class of Honored Art Worker of Russia, Professor Pavel Sukhanov).
He is diploma-holder of the Ferenc Erkel International Competition (Budapest, Hungary, 1970), laureate of the International Competition in Marktneukirchen (Germany, 1976), winner of the International Competition for Electronic and Acoustic Music (Braunschweig, Germany, 2004).
He worked with Mikhailovsky Theater Orchestra, worked at the D.D. Shostakovich Academic Philharmonic in 1977-2013.
Andrey Bolshiyanov combines many years of performing activities with teaching - he is an assistant professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, holds saxophone and ensemble classes at Saint-Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts, and heads the Children's School of Arts No. 19. During his teaching career, he trained more than 40 diploma winners and laureates of national and international competitions.
He services on the jury at many international competitions, gives workshops in Russia, Germany, Japan, Finland and other countries.
