INTERVIEW. SOLOIST OF DECEMBER 2024
Born in 2002 in Moscow, Arseny Zakharov began studying the violin in 2008 at the Children's School of Arts in Lobnya (under the guidance of Lydia Skopintseva). He later transferred to Moscow School of Arts No. 17, continuing under the same teacher, while also studying piano in Lobnya (under the guidance of Nina Pavlova). In the same year, he was accepted into the Central Music School at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, studying under the guidance of Alexander Revich. In 2021, he enrolled in the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, specializing in "viola" under the instruction of Roman Balashov, a Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

2018
- Grand Prix winner of the 1st All-Russian Competition of Young Composers and Music Journalists named after Nikolay Metner in the category "Composition."
2019
- Laureate of the 2nd prize at the 7th Governor's International Youth Competition named after Valery Gavrilin in the category "Composition."
2020
- Laureate of the 1st prize at the International Competition of Composers named after Zagir Ismagilov in the category "Compositions for Orchestra."
2023
- Laureate of the 2nd prize and winner of a special prize for the best performance of the concerto by Alfred Schnittke at the IX International Viola Competition of Yuri Bashmet "Viola Masters" (Moscow).
He has participated in master classes with Ivry Gitlis, Dora Schwarzberg, Tim Kliphuis, Yuri Bashmet, Wilfried Strehle. Participant of creative shifts at the Sirius Educational Center (class of Maxim Fedotov, Mikhail Gantvarg, Alexander Revich, Anna Sokolova (violin) and Igor Rogalev (composition).
He has performed in concerts and festivals in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Croatia. Arseny represented the musical performance department of Sirius at concerts and all-Russian forums. He opened the concert "A Tribute to Ivry Gitlis" in France with his performance.
Arseny has been composing since the age of ten, creating symphonic, choral, chamber compositions, and the opera "Wild Swans" based on the tale by H.C. Andersen. He has conducted performances of his orchestral scores on multiple occasions.
Participant of the St. Petersburg House of Music programs since 2022.
