He was born in 1956 in Leningrad. He graduated from secondary school of music at Leningrad conservatory (class of Valentin Smirnov and professor Nikolay Korshunov). He graduated from Leningrad conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov (class of professor Nikolay Korshunov).
In 1975, he started his artistic activities at Lenconcert. From 1976 to 1988, he was the principal trombonist at Opera studio at Leningrad conservatory. From 1988 to 2018, he was the principal trombonist at Mikhailovsky theatre.
He is involved in teachnig activities since 1979, teaching at Okhta Centre for aesthetic education. Since 2003, he is teaching at St. Petersburg music lyceum and at St. Petersburg Mussorgsky college of music.
He has published teaching programmes for trombone, early learning methods for trombone. For the first time in St.Petersburg, he has introduced elementary education for alto trombone.
Member of the Union of the performing artists of St.-Petersburg, he is on the jury panel at St.-Petersburg and international competitions. He was on the jury panel at the International competition in Daugavpils (2003).

Kirill Lobikov has educated prize-winners of prestigious Municipal, Russian and International competitions, performers in various music groups including orchestra of St.Petersburg State Capella, Mikhailovsky and Mariinsky theatre.
