Maria Bolkonskaya was born in Novosibirsk in 2004. She has graduated from the Children's School of Music at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire with Professor Tamara Alexeeva, an Honoured Teacher of Russia. Currently, she is studying at the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire with Professor Alexei Vasilyev.
She has won prizes in all-Russian and international competitions:
2016: The I prize award at the II International Music Competition for Young Performers "Dedication to Sergei Prokofiev".
2017: The II prize award at the Gnessin Competition for Young musicians.
2018: The III prize award at the All–Russian Competition "Young Talents of Russia". The II prize award at the All-Russian Competition named after Andrei Korsakov.
2020: The II prize award at the Odessa Music Olymp International Competition.
2021: The II prize award at the XIII International Grand Prix Competition "Golden Talents".
2022: The I prize award at the All-Russian Open Youth Competition named after Evgeniy Mravinskiy in Saint Petersburg.
She has taken part in master classes by Sergei Roldugin, Alexei Massarsky, Alexei Seleznev, Alexander Buzlov, Kirill Rodin, Pablo Ferrández, Emil Rovner, Justus Grimm, Jakob Spahn, Jens Peter Maintz.
