Mariinsky Youth Orchestra Brass Quintet was founded in 2016 on the initiative of Associate Professor of St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory Igor Yakovlev. Since the creation the Quintet participates in the Mariinsky Theatre concerts.
In 2016 Brass Quintet won the «Silver Sounds» Contest-Festival (Petrozavodsk).
In November 2016 quintet became the laureate of II Prize by the All-Russian Musical Competition.
The quintet is the laureate of the II prize of the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2016). Zakhar Katsman (French horn) became a laureate of the II prize in this competition as a soloist.
