After graduating from the Leningrad Conservatory (class of professor Yuri Bolshiyanov) in 1976, Boris Taburetkin became the soloist of the S. M. Kirov Leningrad State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (nowdays Mariinsky), where he worked until 2002.
Over the years, he happened to play (including occasionally and as part of Philharmonic orchestras) under the baton of such conductors as E. Mravinsky, E. Svetlanov, G. Rozhdestvensky, Yu. Simonov, Yu. Temirkanov, V. Gergiev, V. Fedotov and others.
Since 1985, he is actively engaged in teaching activities at St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music; since 2004, he is a senior lecturer at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Boris repeatedly held workshops in Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Tallinn (Estonia); he also worked as a judge at competitions in these cities.
His students won awards at many prestigious international and all-Russian competitions.
