He graduated from the Conservatory in Kroměříž, Czech Republic (class of professor Miloslaw Gaidos), as well as from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (class of professor Jiří Bortlíček). During his studies, he took part in a number of performing arts contests and won numerous awards.
For 23 years, Miloslav Jelinek has been the accompanist of the double bass group at the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. He currently holds the post of professor at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music. He is founder and chairman of the Czech Society of Double Bassists.
He collaborates with various chamber ensembles (for example, the Janacek String Quartet, Brindisi String Quartet, Wallinger Quartet). Every September, he organizes the International Congress of Double Bass Players in Brno. He has released a large number of recordings on radio, TV, as well as on CDs (his last CD is The Evolution of Double Bass for Three Centuries of Music) and gives concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad together with his wife Marcela Jelinkova (piano).
He plays as a soloist with such symphony orchestras as the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia, Brno Chamber Orchestra, the Czech Chamber Soloists and many others. Miloslav Jelinek performs many modern musical pieces which have been composed especially for him, for example, such composers as Jiří Matys, Tony Osbourne, Miloš Štědroň, František Emmert, Leos Faltus and others.
Miloslav holds workshops and master classes in different countries (China, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, Latvia, Singapore, the USA and many others) and serves on the jury in international music competitions.
