Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Associate Professor
Born in 1978 in Leningrad, Oleg Weinstein completed his education at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Music School. He subsequently graduated from the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, where he studied under the guidance of Tatiana Zagorovskaya, who holds the title of Honored Artist of Russia and is a distinguished professor.
Oleg Weinstein is currently a faculty member at the Department of Special Piano at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and also teaches at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Music College. In 2010, he was recognized with the "Hope of Russia" award, conferred by the Government of St. Petersburg in the category of "Teacher."
He is a laureate of the Fifth Prize at the European Chopin Piano Competition (Germany, 1999) and a laureate of the First Prize at the Fourth International Piano Competition (France, 2004). He has participated in music festivals, including "Musical Spring," "Stars on Baikal," and the Shanghai Summer Music Festival, among others.
Oleg Weinstein combines his teaching responsibilities with an active concert career, performing both within Russia and internationally. He places significant emphasis on chamber music. Since 2010, he has established a successful artistic collaboration with Vasily Gerello, a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre and People's Artist of Russia. Oleg Weinstein also collaborates with pianists Andrei Ivanovich and Stanislav Soloviev, cellists Dmitry Khrychev, Alexey Vasiliev, Dmitry Yeremin, violinist Hugo Ticciati, and vocalists Maria Lyudko, Valeria Stenkina, Oleg Pogudin, among others. He frequently performs as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Honored Ensemble of Russia, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Saratov Symphony Orchestra, and the Far Eastern Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with a number of conductors, such as Leo Kremer, Fabio Mastrangelo, Felix Korobov, Vasily Petrenko, Alexey Nyaga, Oleg Soldatov, Viktor Titz, Ilya Derbilov, Arkady Steinlucht, Valery Gergiev, Mikhail Agrest, and others. He has taken part as a solo pianist in performances at the Mariinsky Theatre.
Since 2012, at the initiative of the Smolny Cathedral, Oleg Weinstein has successfully conducted concerts both in Russia and abroad, where the academic program in the first half of the concert is complemented by improvisational performances in the second half.
Oleg Weinstein is a respected member of the Chopin Society of Saint Petersburg.
