Andrey Usov was born in 1979 in Yekaterinburg. In 1996, he graduated from Special Music Lyceum School at the Ural State Conservatory, where he had been studying viola at the class of V.P. Averin. In 2000, he became a laureate of the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition (Great Britain). In 2002, he graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Roman Balashov, department of Yuri Bashmet). Since 2002, he is a soloist of the Romantic Quartet of the Moscow Philharmonic

He is laureate of the Shostakovich International String Quartet Competition (2004) and the International Yury Bashmet viola competition (1997 and 2006). He plays in MOSCOW SOLOISTS
