Online master classes from the St. Petersburg Music House
St. Petersburg Music House under the direction of Sergei Roldugin welcomes solo pianists and all piano music lovers to an online master class by People's Artist of Russia Mikhail Voskresensky (piano) within the project "Embassy of Musical Mastery ONLINE".
On June 8, Tuesday, on Robert Schumann's birthday, a famous pianist, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Mikhail Voskresensky will talk about carnival theme in music on the example of the German romantic's piano cycle of the same title. Completed in 1835, Carnaval stunned the composer's contemporaries with the unusual content and novelty of its dramaturgy.
The 20 flagship miniatures were arranged by Schumann as variations on the musical anagram "ASCH," notes A, E-flat, C, H, which are found in the surname of Schumann himself. The four-note miniature scenes have become some of Schumann's most significant piano creations.

Mikhail Voskresensky (piano), People's Artist of Russia, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory. President of the International Scriabin Society and the Chopin Society in Moscow. Patron of the Russian branch of the European Association of Piano Pedagogues. His teachers were Lev Oborin, Yakov Milstein, and Boris Zemlyansky. In September 2016 he was awarded the Rubinstein Gold Medal. He is the permanent chairman of the jury of the "Alexander Scriabin" International Piano Competition. He collaborates with St. Petersburg Music House since 2012.
"Embassy of Musical Mastery ONLINE" continues the yearly project "Embassy of Musical Mastery", which includes open master classes at Russian educational institutions and performances at many venues internationally. Due to restrictions on public and educational events, project events have been moved online. All past workshops are available online at no charge on the St. Petersburg Music House's dedicated channel on YouTube.
St.Petersburg Music House is a Federal Cultural Institution created in 2006 to train young Russian musicians for international competitions and festivals. It occupies the Palace of Grand Duke Alexei Romanov at 122 Moika River Bank.
