Artist of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Honoured Ensemble of Russia, Professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and the Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Cello Ensemble.
Dmitriy Yeremin was born in 1976 in Leningrad into a family of musicians. At different times, his teachers were I. Bogdanovich and A. Ponomarenko. He graduated from the Specialized Music High School (Lyceum) of the Saint Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in 1994 and from the Saint Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in 1999, where he studied with Professor Nikitin.
He won the first prize award at the All-Russian Cello Competition in Voronezh in 1997.
He was awarded the "Daniil Shafran Prize" at the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1998.
He also won the first prize in the IV International M. Yudina Competition for Young Pianists (Piano Duets & Trio; Saint Petersburg, 2002).
Between 2002 and 2003, he practiced in the chamber ensemble with professor Rudin at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He has participated in master classes given by professors Geringas, Helmerson, Monighetti, Giorgian and others.
Since 1997, he has been leader of the cello section in the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Honoured Ensemble of Russia. With the orchestra, he has performed solo parts in concertos by Dvořák, Shostakovich and the Saint Petersburg premieres of cello pieces by R. Shchedrin. He has played the first cello with renowned conductors including but not limited to Gergiev, Svetlanov, Jansons, Temirkanov, Rozhdestvensky and Järvi.
Dmitriy Yeremin has taught the cello at the Saint Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory since 1999 and is now Associate Professor of Cello, Contrabass, Harp and Quartet. He gives master classes abroad. He has released his recordings on CDs.
He is a laureate of the first prize at the All-Russian Cello Competition (1997) and the International Chamber Music Competition (2002).
Yeremin has conducted masterclasses in the United States, Sweden, South Korea, Italy, and Brazil, and has been a member of the jury for several prestigious cello competitions.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in numerous concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in the United States, Haydn Hall in Austria, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Stockholm Philharmonic, Madison Square Garden in the United States, the Seoul Art Center, the Forbidden City Hall in Beijing, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and others.
Dmitry Yeremin has also collaborated with prominent contemporary composers and presented premieres of cello works by Rodion Shchedrin, including the "Sotto voce" cello concerto and "Parabola Concertante".
In 2019, he joined the Taneyev Quartet as a cellist.
