Maxim Shatalkin was born in Tver in 1982. He attended Musorgsky School of Music No. 1 in the class of A. Burshtein, and enrolled at the Tver College of Music in 1997. Since 2000, he studied at Academic College of Music at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in the class of Professor V. Kastelsky. In 2002 he was admitted to the Moscow Conservatoire (class of Professor Elena Kuznetsova). He graduated from the Conservatory with honours and i continued his postgraduate studies with Prof. Elena Kuznetsova.
Laureate of international and all-Russian competitions, such as:
2nd prize at the Russian National Competition for Young Pianists named after Safonov,
1st prize at the Russian National Competition “Inspiration”
1st prize at the International Competition in Greece,
1st prize at the International Competition of Duets in Sweden.
He took part in masterclasses by V. Kastelsky and N. Starkman.
He was awarded scholarships of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as the Emil Gilels scholarship of the Rostropovich Foundation.
He is a regular participant of the J.S. Bach International Festival in Tver and the S. Richter Foundation in Tarus. Maxim performs in concert halls in Moscow and other cities of Russia as well as in Germany, France, Italy and Sweden.
