The winner of the First Prize Award and the Gold Medal in the category “Cello” in the 13th International Tchaikovsky Competition (June, 2007), Sergey Antonov is one of the youngest winners of this prestigious music competition.
Sergey Antonov was burn in 1983 to a family of musicians and received his musical education at the Central School of Music of the Moscow Conservatory (class of Maria Zhuravleva) and the Moscow Conservatory, where he completed his postgraduate studies (class of Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya).
Laureate of the international competitions:
2003 - First Prize on the Swedish Chamber Music Competition (Katrineholm, 2003),
2004 – II Prize on the Popper International Competition (Budapest)
2007 - First Prize on the International Chamber Music Competition in New York (USA).
The cellist took part in masterclasses given by Daniil Shafran and Mstislav Rostropovich and in international festivals by Mstislav Rostropovich.
The musician was a grant-recipient of the M. Rostropovich Foundation and the holder of the N.Ya. Myaskovsky personal scholarship.Sergey Antonov performs with Russian and European symphony orchestras, gives concerts in the USA, Europe and Asian countries, actively tours in Russian cities.
The musician released a CD with recordings of Rachmaninoff and Myaskovsky's cello sonatas (with Pavel Raikerus, piano) on the New Classics label.
2007, Sergey Antonov signed an exclusive contract with the Moscow Philharmonic, which is the artist's representative in Russia.
