Born in 1955 in Sverdlovsk.
From 1962 to 1974, Alexander studied at the Secondary Special Music School at M.P. Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory (class of Vladimir Fedenko). He graduated from the M.P. Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory (class of the same teacher).
He is a laureate of the 2nd prize of the All-Russian music performers competition (Leningrad, 1983).
In 1977, Alexander Trushkov was invited to work at the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, where he worked until 1984. In 1984, he moved to Leningrad, where he became a soloist of the symphony orchestra of the S. M. Kirov Leningrad State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (nowdays, the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra).
From 1982 to 1984, Alexander Trushkov taught at the Sverdlovsk College of Music. In 1997, he began teaching in St. Petersburg. From 1997 to 2000, Alexander Trushkov taught at the Secondary Special Music School of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory, since 2007 he is an assistant professor at the oboe class at the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
