Alexey was born in Leningrad, in 1959. He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory, then passed postgraduate piano courses under Professor Grigory Sokolov mentorship. Also, the musician studied composition (in the class of Professor Yuri Falik) and opera and symphony conducting (in the class of Professor Ilya Musin).
He is a laureate of the following music competitions:
In 1989, the 2nd Prize winner at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Utrecht (Holland).
In 1990, the 1st Prize winner of the Jose Iturbi International Piano Competition in Valencia (Spain).
Alexey successfully played in many places throughout the Russia and abroad as a solo pianist and a member of various chamber ensembles. In 2008, he became an artistic director and main conductor of the "Concert Society" orchestra (Saint- Petersburg).
The musician has recorded several CDs. Every year he hold master-classes in Poland (Wroclaw, Gdansk). He was a jury member of several music competitions including the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Wroclaw (Poland), the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Utrecht (Netherlands).
