24 August, concert "Evenings in the English Hall"
August 24, Wednesday at 19.00, St. Petersburg Music House (Moika Embankment, 122) invites to the concert "Evenings in the English Hall" with performance of young soloists, laureates of international competitions violinist Leonid Baranov (piano part - Andrei Telkov) and pianist Elizaveta Kliuchereva.
Concert program includes the music of eight composers and several epochs: from Liszt to Frolov. Special attention is given for two significant for Russian music sonatas of the 20th century. Audience will listen to the dramatic Prokofiev's First sonata for violin and piano, dedicated to soviet virtuoso violinist David Oistrakh and first performed by himself in 1946 - 70 years ago. Rachmaninoff`s Second piano sonata, which was written at the time of composing and performing maturity of the author, will be presented for guests of this evening. According to a soviet musicologist Boris Asafiev, "extensive melodies" determine the sonata tune: it develops the main theme of Rachmaninoff`s creation - Russia theme.
Popular pieces will sound for music lovers. Virtuoso style and elegance of the Viennese school which is inextricably linked with the violin music, will be presented in series of Fritz Kreisler "Old Viennese melodies", including well-known "Joy of love" and "Misery of love". The program includes lyrical motifs of Franz Liszt’s piano heritage in "Petrarca’s sonnet", violin variations of jazz themes from Gershwin’s opera and Scriabin’s etudes.
Leonid Baranov (21 years old). Was born in St. Petersburg. Graduated at the Special Music School at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory (class of Nela Sklyarskaya). Student of the St. Petersburg Conservatory (class of Chingiz Osmanov). The laureate of Russian-wide contest "Young Talents of Russia" (Moscow, 2009), the winner of International competition SIMC (Sweden, 2012). Participant of the St. Petersburg Music House’s programs since 2011.
Elizaveta Kliuchereva (17 years old). Was born in Moscow. Pupil of the Central music school at Moscow State Conservatory (class of Maxim Zheleznov). The laureate of Tchaikovsky International Youth competition (Novosibirsk, 2015), the winner of International competition "Concertino Praga" (Czech Republic, 2016). She was given grants of Vladimir Spivakov’s Charity Foundation and YAMAHA Charity Foundation.
