28 June the laureate of Hamamatsu Piano Competition will perform in Nicosia
June 28, Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. St. Petersburg Music House and Rossotrudnichestvo invite at Russian Science and Cultural Center in Nicosia to "Embassy of Musical Mastery" recital of the laureate of Hamamatsu International Piano Competition 2015 Alexey Melnikov.
Evening program comprises XIX and XX century classics. Alexey Melnikov will perform popular Frank`s Prelude, Chorale and Fugue and bright List`s Spanish Rhapsody based on Iberian motives. This evening will be performed extraordinarily beautiful Debussy`s Preludes - Sunken Cathedral, based on the legend of the ancient city absorbed by the sea and colorful Fireworks. Composer used some Middle Age melodies in "Sunken Cathedral" to "draw" a quiet sea landscape, but in "Fireworks" listeners will "see" a bold multi-colored lights play with sound.
There will be performed Russian music as well. Chopin` romanticism and impressionism notes in Scriabin`s Second Sonata will transfer the contrast of restful night and raging sea. Completely different power, force, will occur in Prokofiev`s Sixth Sonate. The writing was created in 1940 as a response to historical events unfolding World War.
Alexey Melnikov is 26 years old, was born in Moscow. Graduate of the Moscow Conservatory (class of People's Artist of Russia, Professor Sergey Dorensky and his assistants Nikolay Lugansky, Pavel Nersesian and Andrey Pisarev). Winner of International Piano Competition in San Marino (2014) and International Piano Competition in Cantu (Italy, 2015). The laureate of International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu (Japan, 2015). The Member of St. Petersburg Music House Program since 2016.
