The Primorsky Regional Philharmonic traces its history back to October 1939. Despite the institution’s long existence, it received a full-fledged concert hall only in 1980. The luxurious building of the Philharmonic is located in the heart of Vladivostok, and its history is closely connected with the cultural traditions of the city. In 1885, one of the largest entrepreneurs of the Far East, Ivan Ivanovich Galetsky, built a theater hall for 350 seats, which became known as “Madame Galetskaya’s Theater” and became the first cultural institution in Vladivostok. In 1899, the theater was destroyed by fire and in 1901-1903, a 4-story stone building was built in its place. Since 1907, the Theater Hall has been located here. Subsequently, the building was repeatedly rebuilt. At different times, it was the Opera Theater, the Theater of Young Spectators, the Regional Drama Theater. The Primorsky Regional Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, created in 1932, worked on this stage for almost forty years. In 1980, a concert hall of the Primorsky Regional Philharmonic was opened here. Next to the large hall, a small one was equipped for chamber concerts and performances.
