Congratulations on the anniversary from: Aleksander Ramm, Miroslav Kultyshev, Pavel Milyukov, Nikita Lyutikov
The Saint Petersburg Music House is celebrating a jubilee year. Twenty years ago, on the initiative of the People’s Artist of Russia, professor, cellist, and conductor Sergei Roldugin, an institution was founded whose mission is devoted to supporting young musicians, preserving the traditions of the Russian performing school, and fostering the development of classical musical art.
The Saint Petersburg Music House is located in a Saint Petersburg mansion at Moika Embankment, 122—the former palace of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich Romanov. This unique architectural monument was transferred to the institution by the Government of the Russian Federation in 2006. A large-scale restoration was carried out in the building, restoring to one of the jewels of Saint Petersburg’s palace architecture its long-lost brilliance and splendor. Concerts and master classes are held within the sumptuous interiors of the Alexeyevsky Palace. As part of the Evenings in the English Hall series, the Saint Petersburg Music House’s own soloists perform alongside outstanding artists from Russia and around the world.
In September 2025, the Saint Petersburg Music House inaugurated its second concert venue in the Nikolaevsky Palace at Truda Square, 4. In this restored mansion—originally built for Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich, the third son of Emperor Nicholas I—master classes and concerts by the Music House’s soloists are now also regularly held.
Over its twenty-year history, the geographic scope of performances by the Music House’s soloists within the Musical Team of Russia series has expanded dramatically, stretching across the entire country from Kaliningrad in the west to Vladivostok in the far east. The project’s international touring activity under The Embassy of Musical Mastery has encompassed Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Japan, Morocco, India, Vietnam, and a number of other countries.
Concerts by Russia’s young stars—soloists of the Saint Petersburg Music House and the Moscow Philharmonic—are held annually as part of the Music of Stars series, presented on the stages of the Saint Petersburg Capella and the North Caucasus Philharmonic in Kislovodsk.
The most successful soloists of the Saint Petersburg Music House are given the opportunity to appear on the stage of the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, performing together with the theatre’s world-famous symphony orchestra. Collaboration within the project Soloists of the Saint Petersburg Music House at the Mariinsky began in 2008, virtually immediately after the opening of the venue, and has since become an important milestone in the professional development of young performers.
The projects Higher Music Performance Courses, Summer Academy of the Saint Petersburg Music House, and The River of Talents constitute a vital component of the educational mission of the Music House. They provide young soloists with the opportunity to study with leading pedagogues, to prepare thoroughly for international competitions, and to gain invaluable practical experience of performing with a symphony orchestra.
To mark the jubilee of the Saint Petersburg Music House, the launch of the new concert series Masters has been announced. The first concerts took place in the autumn of 2025. This project brings together, on a single stage, teachers and leading soloists who over the years of collaboration with the Saint Petersburg Music House have themselves become true masters—established performers and pedagogues, recipients of honorary titles and distinguished awards.
Aleksander Ramm, cellist, Laureate of the President of the Russian Federation Prize: For me personally, the Saint Petersburg Music House is an entirely special and truly distinctive institution. After all, it was precisely the Music House that was the first to notice me, the first to recognize my potential, and the first to give me a real chance. I am deeply grateful for the trust that was placed in me and for the support that was so generously provided.
On a broader, more global level, the Saint Petersburg Music House is absolutely unique. This system for identifying, nurturing, and supporting talented young musicians has no equivalents anywhere in the world. I am firmly and absolutely convinced that any kind of preparation, even the most correct, diligent, and thoroughly executed “homework,” is worth almost nothing without being tested in true “combat conditions” — that is, without stepping onto the stage and facing a live audience. And it is precisely the Music House that provides young musicians with this vital opportunity to prove themselves and to gain genuine, real concert experience. It is also extremely important to emphasize the organization of master classes led by the world’s finest and most outstanding professors.
From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate the Saint Petersburg Music House and its entire team on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, and I wish it endless prosperity, continued growth, and further development!
Miroslav Kultyshev, pianist, Honored Artist of Russia, Associate Professor: Twenty years of the Saint Petersburg Music House are twenty of the most important years of my life. These are twenty years of the most valuable professional and human support for me personally. These are hundreds of my concerts throughout Russia, from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok, and hundreds of concerts all over the world, ranging from Helsinki to Buenos Aires, all of them performed by me exclusively thanks to the goodwill and benevolent support of the Music House.
I wish the Saint Petersburg Music House, which is so dear to me, many years of life for the benefit of Music; I wish it always to remain the same close, welcoming, and truly native Home for talented and aspiring young musicians who have chosen, as the meaning of their lives, service to our sacred craft.
Pavel Milyukov, violinist, Honored Artist of Russia: I am sincerely and wholeheartedly grateful to the Saint Petersburg Music House for everything that has been done for me. And I am glad that today, in our country, for already twenty years there has existed a Music House which supports young people through its projects—through master classes and, of course, through concerts—thereby helping to nurture and cultivate a new generation of musicians, many of whom will go on to represent the pride of the nation.
Nikita Lyutikov, clarinetist, laureate of international competitions: In my life there have been two truly fateful events. The first was the Intonation Prize awarded by the Saint Petersburg Music House, which I received when I was only fifteen years old. This was followed by the River of Talents project and numerous concerts. The second event, no less significant, was the invitation to join the Honored Collective of Russia.
The Saint Petersburg Music House gave me an enormous amount of concert practice. I learned a great deal by performing with the finest orchestras and by working alongside outstanding conductors. There is nothing in the world comparable to what the Saint Petersburg Music House does. This work is truly priceless. They support young and gifted musicians, organize master classes with the world’s leading professors, and provide opportunities to perform with orchestras in the best concert halls.
On a personal note, I would like to express my profound gratitude to Sergei Roldugin, Elena Mirtova, Maria Khanko, and Lyudmila Nabok—for noticing me and for believing in me. I am convinced that, if it were not for the concerts of the Saint Petersburg Music House, I would not have become a soloist of such an orchestra. I particularly value the fact that, alongside my orchestral work, I also have solo concerts, which bring me immense joy and happiness. Today my life is closely intertwined with the Music House. For me, the Music House is a gift of fate; it is happiness itself to step onto the stage and to perform as a soloist.
